The Christchurch Modern Jive Championships (or Chch Champs) is one of the most popular Modern Jive competitions in Australasia with usually over 150 people attending.

Ara Recreation Centre

We're back at the Ara Rec Centre! This was such a great venue for 2024 we've booked it again for 2025. It's in a convenient central city location with plenty of accommodation, shops and cafes all within easy walking distance.

We have a 3 day format where you can join us for a day or all three. There's a friendly atmosphere with a great variety of music to suit everyone.

3 Day Format

Friday Party

  • Large dance floor
  • Casual seating
  • Meet your Lucky Dip partner

Saturday

Saturday has the most competing during the day with the excitement of the finals taking place in the evening.

  • 10:00 am start
  • Dancing until midnight
  • Social dancing throughout the day and during the dinner break

Sunday

Sunday has a different vibe and perfectly complements the previous day. Have a go at Lucky Dip where we pair you up with another dancer.

  • Dancing until 5:00pm
  • Social dancing throughout the day

Spectators are welcome throughout the weekend.

  • Friday party dancer: $20
  • Friday performers friends & family: free if booked in advance
  • Saturday until 6pm: free entry
  • Saturday after 6pm: $10
  • Sunday: free entry

If you're visiting from out of town or even if you're local and want time to recover then we encourage you to maybe include our Champs as part of a mini break or holiday.
