The Christchurch Modern Jive Championships (or Chch Champs) is one of the most popular Modern Jive competitions in Australasia with usually over 150 people attending.

3 Day Format
Friday Party
  • Large dance floor
  • Casual seating
  • Meet your Lucky Dip partner
  • Prepared Freestyle
Saturday

Saturday has the most competing during the day with the excitement of the finals taking place in the evening.

  • 9:30 am start
  • Music Mashup, DWAS, Freestyle, Big Moves, Steals
  • Teams and Showcases
  • Dancing until midnight
  • Social dancing throughout the day and during the dinner break
Sunday

Sunday has a different vibe and perfectly complements the previous day. Have a go at Lucky Dip where we pair you up with another dancer.

  • 10:30 am start
  • Partner Blind, Lucky Dip, Triples, 40+
  • Dancing until 5:30pm
  • Social dancing throughout the day
Spectators and Social Dancers

Spectators and social dancers are welcome throughout the weekend you can just turn up on the day.

Tickets are required for Friday and Saturday evenings (EFTPOS available - sorry no credit cards). There is social dancing throughout the weekend between competition events.

Highlights:

  • Friday dance party: $20 (with the entertaining event: Prepared Freestyle)
  • Saturday before 6pm: free entry
  • Saturday after 6pm: $10
  • Sunday all day: free entry
