- they promote skills that make us better social dancers

Team Challenges
Triples
Team Challenges are open level straight finals held throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. The team that gains the most points/placings will be the winners.
Competitors will be limited to how many team challenges they can enter so there's a bit of strategy involved as to who enters which challenge to represent the team.

Go Fast
Who can keep time to fast music?
We'll play a song with a fast tempo between 150 - 190 BPM (beats per minute)
You're not allowed to half time, we need to step a complete weight change for each beat for the majority of the song!
Go Slow
Who can keep time to slow music?
We'll play a song with a slow tempo between 50 - 80 BPM (beats per minute)
We'll looking to see who can step on the beat which is much harder than it sounds.
Not 4/4
Modern Jive is usually danced to songs with a 4/4 time signature, basically most modern pop songs.
It can also be danced to 6/8 time (think Vienesse Waltz), quite a few slow pop songs are 6/8.
Partner Blind
You and your partner take it in turns to be blindfolded.
Who can keep connection just by feel?
Steals
Three competitors form a partnership but only two are dancing at any one time.
We're looking for smooth frequent transitions.
Tight Spot
Dance in a small area, no part of the body may touch the floor outside the marked space.
Travelling (anticlockwise around the dance floor)
In Modern Jive can also travel or progress in a circular motion around the dance floor similar to some Ballroom dances.
We're looking for dancers who can dance their partnership smoothly around the floor.
Triples
Three competitors form a partnership where there is one lead and two follows dancing together.
Do I need a partner?
You do not need to find a partner for DWAS, Lucky Dip and the Team Challenges.
For Freestyle and Battle of the Themes we can help find you a partner.
